DEEP UNIT
About me
I'm Adrian, better known as DEEP UNIT, a house DJ and producer with fifteen years on stage. New York events come with specific planning needs: building rules for rooftops, freight-elevator access at some lofts, yacht departures from Manhattan piers, and travel times to the Hamptons that vary with destination and traffic.
I play house, deep house, Latin and Afro house, disco and some techno. A clear musical profile, not a jukebox: no Top 40 marathon, no karaoke.
Every venue sets its own terms, from a penthouse terrace to a gallery, a restaurant buyout or a tent on a lawn in Bridgehampton. I adjust the selection, the volume and the transitions to the room, the guests and the time of night. Announcements are short and in English, with German or Spanish when some of your guests prefer it.
As a producer I release on Spotify, Apple Music and Beatport. I'm based in Germany and fly in for New York bookings, which is why dates are best planned a few months ahead.
Services
A set for every kind of New York event
From a rooftop sunset to a holiday party for three hundred, each booking gets its own musical plan and a setup that fits the venue. DJ hire in New York covers an event DJ set of 2 to 8 hours: private parties, corporate events, a yacht or boat party and VIP weddings.
Rooftop Parties in Manhattan and Brooklyn
Sunset sets on roof decks and penthouse terraces with the skyline behind you. Building rules often set the finishing time, so the evening is planned around it instead of being cut short. Sets of 2 to 8 hours, setup and soundcheck before doors open.
Corporate Events and Holiday Parties
Company parties, product launches and client evenings. Holiday-party dates in December are often planned by early fall, and the music follows your run of show from welcome drinks to the last dance. Announcements in English, French and German, a set of 2 to 8 hours.
Bars, Lounges and Club Nights
For a bar or lounge buyout, or a guest set on a special night, I build the set around the room as the night unfolds instead of following a fixed playlist. Slots of 2 to 8 hours, opening, peak-time or closing.
Summer Estates in the Hamptons
Garden parties, poolside afternoons and dinners under a tent in Southampton, East Hampton or Montauk. Travel from the city is planned around Friday traffic, and the sound is sized for open lawns. From 30 guests to several hundred, setup in the afternoon and soundcheck before they arrive.
Yacht Charters on the Hudson and East River
Sets on charter yachts leaving Manhattan piers, circling the island or cruising past the Statue of Liberty. Compact gear, controlled levels and nothing in the crew's way. Levels calibrated for an open deck, 2 to 8 hours.
Lofts, Galleries and Private Residences
Townhouse parties, loft gatherings and gallery evenings in Tribeca, SoHo or Williamsburg. Load-in times, elevators and neighbors are part of the plan from the first call. Sets of 2 to 8 hours, with the curfew agreed in writing beforehand.
Restaurant Buyouts and Private Dinners
Sets for a private dining room or a full buyout: deep, soulful selections that remain unobtrusive during conversation and build after dessert. Held below conversation level, 2 to 8 hours.
Milestone Birthdays and Private Celebrations
Fortieth, fiftieth or sixtieth birthdays, graduations and family celebrations, at home, on a rooftop or on the water. I place your key songs at agreed moments in a set that keeps the night together. From 30 guests to several hundred, 2 to 8 hours.
Custom Mixes
A mix produced in the studio from your favorite tracks, timed to the moment you need: an entrance, a birthday gift or the soundtrack for a video. Built from your list, with a reply to the request within 24 hours.
Brand Events and Store Openings
Launches, showroom parties and store openings where the music has to match the brand without taking over the room. Sets of 2 to 8 hours, matched to the running order.
VIP Weddings in the City and the Hamptons
VIP weddings without the classic format: quiet sound through the ceremony and cocktail hour, a calm dinner and a floor that opens once the toasts are done. No host games, no karaoke, no banquet playlist. Open format of 2 to 8 hours, prepared separately for the cocktail hour, dinner and the party.

Frequently asked questions
DJ in New York: FAQ
Straight answers to the questions that come up in most inquiries: price, travel, equipment and how the night runs.
How much does a DJ in New York cost for my event?
Pricing starts with the event brief. I quote the performance, any locally rented production and travel as separate line items, so you can see exactly what changes the total. Sets run 2 to 8 hours, and a rooftop reception needs different preparation and equipment than a corporate party. Because I travel from Germany, flights and accommodations are listed separately, and when bookings can be combined into one trip, the quote shows the travel saving. Send the date, venue, schedule and guest count for an itemized quote within 24 hours.
What's included in the DJ service?
The booking covers a planning call, music prepared for your event, arrival in time for setup and sound check, the agreed performance hours, coordination with your planner or venue manager, and load-out. Any locally rented sound or lighting is quoted separately. Video production, décor and a dedicated MC are not included.
What styles of music do you play?
My sets center on deep, melodic, Latin and Afro house, with disco, soul or techno when they fit the crowd. For dinner I keep the sound warm and restrained; later, familiar grooves can lead into a stronger house set. If the brief is Top 40 all night, I am not the right fit.
Where are you based, and how does travel work?
I live in Germany, between Frankfurt and Heidelberg, and fly to New York for bookings. Flights and lodging are listed separately in the quote. Booking early helps, and so does a little flexibility on the date: several events in one trip keep the travel cost per event down.
Which areas do you cover?
All five boroughs, including Manhattan and Brooklyn; the Hamptons and the rest of Long Island; the Hudson Valley; and nearby parts of New Jersey and Connecticut. Longer distances simply need more planning for load-in and travel. Well-known addresses in the city include 620 Loft & Garden at Rockefeller Center, The Glasshouse in Chelsea and Westlight at The William Vale in Williamsburg; they are named here as orientation for the area, not as a list of past bookings.
Do you bring your own DJ equipment and sound system?
My mixer, headphones and cabling fly in with me. Some hotels, clubs and event spaces have a usable house system; I confirm that before quoting. Rooftops, residences and yachts often don't; then speakers, subwoofer, microphones and lights are rented from a local production company, sized to the space and listed in the quote.
How far in advance should I book a DJ in New York?
For fixed travel dates, asking three to 6 months ahead is helpful; availability varies. December holiday parties and summer weekends in the Hamptons are often planned earlier. Because every New York booking involves a flight, short-notice requests only work if the travel and the calendar allow it.
Can you play on a rooftop with building rules or noise limits?
Yes. Many buildings set their own hours for roof decks, and the city's noise rules apply to amplified sound. I check the building's policy before the quote and shape the evening around it: the busiest part before the cut-off, then a quieter finish or a move indoors if needed.
Do you take song requests from guests?
Yes, it is part of the job. Before the event we agree on a must-play list, a do-not-play list and any signature moments. On the night, requests that fit the mood go in; the ones that would break the flow get a better-fitting alternative or a later slot.
Do you also play smaller private parties?
Yes, from a dinner for twenty in a townhouse to a company party for several hundred. What changes is the equipment: a compact setup is enough for a small group, while a large event needs a stronger system and lighting. The musical preparation is the same for both.
Can you issue an invoice for my company?
Yes. I provide an itemized invoice for private and corporate bookings and can include the billing or purchase-order details your team requires.
Do you play at weddings in New York?
Yes, at VIP weddings with an open format: lofts and townhouses in the city, estates and tents in the Hamptons, or a boat on the water. Cocktail hour, dinner and party are planned separately, and the moments that matter are agreed with you and your planner in advance.
Do you play classic weddings with a host and karaoke?
No. I am a house DJ, not a wedding host: no games, no karaoke and none of the usual banquet repertoire. If that is what the day calls for, other colleagues are the better choice.
